I’m Darren Burgfeld, and you can catch me on 93.9 Mike FM weekdays from 10a–2p. I’ve been part of the River Radio family since 2019, but my radio journey actually started way earlier—back in high school at a small AM gospel station in Jackson. That first crack at the mic opened the door to creativity, music, and storytelling, and after a long (and fun) detour through other careers, I found my way back to one of my first loves: radio.
On the air, what you hear is what you get. I try to keep things natural, open, and honest—no forced hype or chasing controversy. My goal is simple: I want listeners to feel loved, appreciated, and welcome. We could all use a little more good human energy, and I’m happy to send it your way.
Musically, I’m all over the map. I love great melodies, tight harmonies, and a solid beat. One day it might be heavier rock, the next it’s Coldplay or Radiohead, and I’ll always have room for 80s and 90s rap. If it’s got good vibes, I’m probably into it.
When I’m not on the air, I’m usually chasing adventures with my wife Carrie and our two high-energy high school kids. I’m also heavily involved in the community—handling PA duties for SEMO sports, Cape Central High School events, and serving as the voice of the 2025 Prospect League Champion Cape Catfish during the summer. Giving back locally matters to me, and I try to help wherever I can.
I love this area for its land, rivers, and natural beauty, and whenever we can, my family and I are outside enjoying it. Oh—and one random fact: give me a good Lego set and we’ll be best friends… at least until it’s finished.
